Modern genetics tools for a crop the big platforms overlook
Row crops like corn and soybean have entire industries of breeding software behind them. Cacao, a long-lived tree crop grown by millions of smallholder farmers, largely does not.
Why we built CacaoIQ
Cacao breeding moves slowly. Trees take years to produce, trials run across many seasons, and diseases such as witches' broom, frosty pod rot and Ceratocystis wilt keep threatening yields. Every good decision made early in a breeding cycle saves years later.
The statistics needed to make those decisions already exist, and most of them are free. What's missing is a reliable way to use them without a dedicated bioinformatician stitching scripts and file formats together for every trial. CacaoIQ packages that expertise into one application, with defaults chosen by people who have done this work on real cacao breeding programs.
How we work
- Built with breeders. Every workflow starts from how cacao trials are actually designed and measured.
- Validated before it ships. Methods are checked against published results, not just test data.
- Your data is your data. CacaoIQ runs locally and never asks you to upload genetics to a cloud.
